Q. What is Wheeler’s Day of Giving?
It’s a moment for the entire Wheeler School community – alumni, families, students, faculty, staff, and friends – to celebrate their pride in all things purple and gold through giving to the Wheeler Fund. The Wheeler Fund is a collective investment in Wheeler that expands and enriches the diverse array of opportunities we are able to provide to our students, and Day of Giving is a BIG part of our community's support of the Wheeler Fund. We hope you'll join in on Day of Giving on Tuesday, May 7, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. EDT. To build momentum, we will begin accepting “early bird” gifts on Tuesday, April 30 leading up to the big event just one week later on May 7.Q. How much should I give on Wheeler’s Day of Giving?
We strive to earn the support of 100 percent of current families every year, and to rally far-reaching support from our alumni and past-parent communities. Each gift brings us closer to our goal, and the more we raise the greater the impact we will have on the myriad of opportunities Wheeler provides for our kids.Q. I can’t make a large gift. Does my participation actually make a difference?
Yes! Many small gifts add up. And a strong level of participation shows the world – from prospective parents to school-ranking websites and even to lending and grant-making institutions – that our community believes in the mission of the school and has a shared commitment to educational excellence. (Plus you will help win great prizes for the students!)
Q. What is the impact of my gift to the Wheeler Fund?
Gifts to the Wheeler Fund are put to work immediately to support students, faculty, and innovative programming in all four divisions on our two campuses. As a direct result of your gifts, Wheeler and Hamilton will continue to develop new and exciting learning opportunities for our students and support the continuous development of our talented faculty.
Q. What if I already made a gift to the Wheeler Fund this year?
First of all: THANK YOU! Because of your generosity, Wheeler has raised more than $500,000 for this year’s Wheeler Fund to date, and those gifts have already been invested right back into the academic and enrichment programs that make a Wheeler education stand out.
Last year, second-time donors who gave again on Day of Giving collectively contributed more than $90,000 dollars. Wow! This has a huge impact on our students and is a part of what makes Day of Giving so successful. This year, we aim to exceed last year’s participation of more than 900 donors and $275,000 raised for our students, and hope you'll consider joining in as well. This year, ANY gift made to the Wheeler Fund at any point throughout the year will help your grade win fun prizes.
Q. What do I do if I want to send a gift now, but it won't arrive until after WDoG?
No problem! Please just fill out a pledge/gift intention form so we can be sure to include your generosity in our totals. All gifts must be received by the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2024.Q. Can I make a gift of stock, or give through a Donor Advised Fund or my IRA?
Yes! Wheeler accepts non-cash gifts like appreciated securities, distributions from your DAF or IRA, and other methods outlined here.
In this case you should also fill out our pledge/gift intention form so we know your gift is coming and we can include it in our totals. Thank you!
